Growing up in my Amish home, the holidays were filled with the sweet smell of Christmas cookies baking, pies cooling on the counter, and the excitement of sitting down to a table full of homemade favorites.
These recipes aren't about fancy ingredients or complicated steps - they're about the warmth of homemade food shared with family. From festive desserts and homemade candies to hearty holiday dishes, these Amish Christmas recipes are the same ones that made my childhood Christmases so special, and I'm happy to pass them along to you.

An Amish Christmas
While most Amish families celebrate Christmas in some way, not every family does it the same. Each home has its own traditions that make the season special, and each community has its own set of rules.
I've written another post sharing what Christmas was like in my Amish home. I grew up New Order Amish in Lancaster County, PA, and as you may know, there are big differences between New Order Amish and the strictest Amish groups.
In this post, I'm sharing the Christmas recipes I grew up with in my home and community. These are the kinds of dishes that filled our holiday table, and they may be different from the recipes someone raised in a Swartzentruber Amish family in another state might make.

These are a few of the traditional Amish Christmas desserts that often showed up at our holiday gatherings. (Warm Mincemeat Pie with ice cream was also sometimes served over Christmas, but I don't have that recipe on my site yet.)
Pecan Pie (Less Sweet)

Shoofly Pie

Dutch Apple Pie

An incredible PA Dutch Apple Pie Recipe that consists of flaky crust, filled with sweet baked apples and cinnamon filling, and topped with a crisp and buttery oat crumble topping. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to your pie, and you have a perfect dessert for any occasion!
This recipe for Amish fruit salad is made with a sweetened homemade fruit sauce that has been thickened to perfection. It combines canned and fresh fruits, resulting in a delightful and refreshing medley of flavors. (Fruit salad was served with almost all of our holiday meals.)
