Yumasetti Casserole

Yumasetti casserole is creamy Amish noodles and ground beef topped with buttered bread crumbs. It's a great one-dish meal!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pkg. noodles (12 - 16 oz.)
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 2 Tbs. chopped onion
  • 1 1/2 c. green peas
  • 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 - 1 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 1 1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
  • salt to taste, about 3/4 tsp.
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. season-all
  • 6 slices toasted and crumbled bread mixed with 5 Tbs. melted butter

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Cook noodles according to al-dente package directions.
  • Cook and crumble ground beef, onion, and garlic. Drain any excess fat.
  • Mix cream soups, sour cream, cheese, and seasonings. Add noodles, beef, and peas. Stir to mix.
  • Pour noodle mixture into a 9 x 13" greased baking dish.
  • Toast and crumble bread slices and mix with melted butter. Spread the crumbles over the top of the casserole.
  • Bake, covered with foil, for about 25 minutes. Then remove the foil and continue baking for another 20 - 25 minutes. Serve immediately.

Notes

You can substitute the bread crumbles with store-bought panko bread crumbs, if you prefer.
This recipe is versatile. You can use cream of chicken instead of cream of mushroom. If you don't like peas, add a different vegetable that you like. And if you like more meat in your casserole, feel free to add another pound of ground beef.
