Eight of the Best Amish Chicken Recipes
In this post, I have compiled a list of eight of my favorite Amish chicken recipes. These are popular Amish recipes that include chicken.
Chicken is the ultimate dinnertime staple and possibly the most popular meat in the whole world. Not only is it easy to cook and affordable, but there are so many ways to prepare it.
And obviously, there are a lot more recipes for Amish chicken (that Amish women use and make for their families) than what I am sharing here. And I'll probably add more recipes in the future, but today we're starting with eight.
Rice Krispie Chicken

Rice Krispie chicken is an absolute favorite and often requested dish in our home.
In this recipe, we dip chicken cutlets or tenderloins in batter and crushed Rice Krispies, and bake them till they are tender and moist on the inside and crispy on the outside.
It's basically homemade chicken strips, and they are a big hit with everyone. Get the recipe.
BBQ Chicken
When I was growing up, Amish chicken barbecue dinners were popular for fundraisers in Lancaster County, PA. And it was some of the best barbecued chicken you will ever taste.
This Amish recipe makes finger-licking delicious, moist, and tender grilled chicken that's perfect for a summer barbecue. Get the recipe.
Oven-Baked Chicken Breasts with Stovetop Stuffing
Another one of my favorites, this Amish recipe is made with boneless, skinless chicken breasts that are topped with cream soup and buttery Stovetop stuffing.
It's very quick and easy to make. And this moist and tender chicken is a great dinner entrée for any day of the week. Get the Recipe.
Chicken and Rice Casserole
Chicken and rice casserole is another very quick and easy-to-make dish. It's kid-friendly, delicious comfort food.
And these chicken thighs over rice can also be baked at a low temperature, so it's ready to eat for Sunday lunch after church. Get the recipe.
Chicken with Stuffing (Lancaster Amish Wedding Chicken)
The Amish in Lancaster County have a traditional wedding meal. And this Amish chicken and stuffing (chicken/turkey roast, better known as "Roasht") is served at every wedding.
And not only is it served at weddings, but it's also a popular holiday dish.
"Roasht" is typically made with turkey, although it can easily be made with chicken when you're cooking for only a few people.
My mom used to make a giant bowl of stuffing, then she stuffed the turkey with some of it and baked it at a low temperature overnight. The next day she picked the meat off of the bones, cut it up, and mixed it with all the stuffing.
So with one turkey, she made a huge roaster full of "Roasht" to serve a large gathering of people. And this is a great recipe for Amish chicken. Get the recipe.
PA Dutch Chicken Croquettes
These Amish chicken croquettes are made with cooked and chopped chicken that is mixed with a thick creamy sauce, shaped into balls, then dipped in eggs and coated in bread crumbs.
And to finish them off (the best part of all), they are deep-fat fried. Although if you're looking for a healthier option, they can be pan-fried or air-fried as well.
It's a great way to use up leftover chicken or turkey from Thanksgiving. Get the recipe.
PA Dutch Chicken Pot Pie
Some of you might think of chicken pot pie as being a chicken pie with crust. But the best chicken pot pie comes from Lancaster, PA.
It's a brothy dish that's loaded with lots of homemade noodle squares. And while it has a lot of the same ingredients as chicken pies, it's a totally different dish. Get the recipe.
Chicken Corn Noodle Soup
Chicken Corn Noodle Soup is the ultimate comfort food.
There's just something warm and comforting about brothy noodles with chicken and vegetables. And at our house, whenever someone isn't feeling well, chicken noodle soup is on the menu.
But we certainly don't wait until we're feeling sick to enjoy this dish. It's great for any night of the week and especially on a cold or rainy day. Get the recipe.
