    Marshmallow Hats

Marshmallow Top Hats make for a delightful and enjoyable snack that will be loved by the entire family. It's an especially great treat for the kids in your life.

They're quick and easy to prepare, and they bring back cherished memories from my Amish childhood. We had marshmallow hats quite frequently, and we called them "Amish Hats".

    Easy Amish Marshmallow Hats

This is one of the easiest-to-make recipes that you will ever find. All you need for making them is three items: a butter knife, a cookie sheet, and a broiler oven.

These delicious marshmallow top hats are simply made with Ritz crackers, peanut butter, and regular marshmallows.

Spread a thin layer (approx. a teaspoon) of peanut butter onto Ritz crackers and put them on a cookie sheet. Then top the peanut butter with whole marshmallows and place them under the broiler for about 2 minutes or until nicely browned.

And that's it. Making delicious treats that everyone enjoys couldn't be simpler.

    Using the Broiler

Most ovens nowadays come equipped with a broiler unit located at the top. And, trust me, it's super easy to use!

But just in case you're new to broiling and have no clue what it's all about, I found an article that goes into detail about using a broiler and provides more info for you, if you want to check it out.

To create these delicious marshmallow crackers, simply adjust your oven rack to a position about 5 - 6 inches below the broiler unit. (I usually place mine in the second slot from the top.)

Give your broiler a quick preheat on the low setting (it literally takes just a minute or so). The low setting is typically around 450 degrees.

Now, pop your tray of delightful Amish hats into the oven and keep an eye on them. It'll only take around 2 minutes for them to beautifully brown up.

And if you eat them immediately, you can squish the marshmallow to flatten it a bit and cover the cracker.

Marshmallow Hats for a Simple Snack

I grew up New Order Amish, and we got together every two weeks for Bible Study. Our church was divided into small groups for Bible Study, and we had two different classes for the kids.

Typically, one of the young teenage girls from church was the teacher for the little kids, and we had a Bible lesson along with fun activities. And occasionally, we had a snack at the end of the class.

You guessed it, Amish hats were one of the most popular treats that we had for snack. We all loved these simple marshmallow hats.

And I still love to eat them! So they're not just for kids, but adults will enjoy them as well. They can be a bit messy for toddlers, but they're a great snack for kids that are capable of handling a slightly melted marshmallow.

This broiled marshmallow, peanut butter, and Ritz cracker snack offers the perfect combination of sweet, salty, and creamy flavors that are sure to please your taste buds. With its quick preparation time and simple ingredients, it's a versatile treat that can be enjoyed anytime.

Give this recipe for marshmallow top hats a try and experience the delightful harmony of flavors in every bite! 🙂

I love it when the simplest recipes come together and bring not just the most flavor but the most joy! You cannot be sad holding a little "hat" in your hand! And the melty peanut-butter with the gooey marshmallow is like the BEST warm and gooey church spread! Something about that flavor combination captivates all ages, honestly!!! Thanks so much for a fun one!! ~Chrissie O
